FESTIVAL OF ANTIQUES

Friday & Saturday 21st & 22nd March 2008

Friday & Saturday 3rd & 4th October 2008

Started in 1999 this twice yearly event has now grown into one of the largest showground events in the country. Held at the East of England Showground in Peterborough the event now attracts buyers and sellers from all over Europe.

In the short space of time since the event was launched it now has over 1,700 stalls selling something for everyone. The show contains a spectacular array of antiques and collectables for sale within four permanent buildings, trade marquees and outdoor pitches. In the Main Arena, items such as jewellery, china, stamps, miltitaria, linen and toys, in fact anything old and collectable are all on display. Leading from here are the nine bays of the Nat West Building with stalls containing furniture, fine art and anything else that is old and requirers a little more space to display it. The third building, the Cambridge Suite was only opened in 2005, and contains many rare high quality pieces. On from here is the new exec centre. New for October 2008 this huge £8 million development will offer stand holders and visitors all the comforts that go with a state of the art exhibition hall. Three times the size of the Main Arena this building will have a good mixture of furniture and ceramics on display and will be home to most of the stallholders who used to stand in the three large marquees. Surrounding all of the buildings are outdoor pitches and trade marquees containing items from all over Europe, from architectural furniture to antique farm implements.

The showground is located adjacent to the A1 at Peterborough an hours drive north of London. All major routes into Peterborough have yellow road signs up directing you to the 'Antiques Fair'. There will be a courtesy bus running from the Peterborough rail station to the showground every hour starting at 9.00am. Refreshments are available from the restaurant, or many fast food outlets, all selling home grown produce.
